Wintersports Betting
Winter sports, due to restrictions of the natural environment, always have
been slowed down its development, compared to the summer sports. Their
environmental factors needed as snow or ice caused the domination of the
Nordic countries in winter sports. Also, except for the events that were
originally a means of survival, like skiing or skating, the majority of
winter sports events were founded very recently. However, the Nordic games
and the Winter Olympics contributed to the popularization and specialization
of winter sports. The Nordic games, although they had financial difficulties
and have not been arranged so professionally, served as a prelude to the
Winter Olympics. Sport events analysed in detail in this document are
selected, the first Olympic Games of Winter: skiing, Bobsledding, ice hockey
and ice skating. The Winter Olympics examined herein are those of until
1936, which is before World War II.
History of winter sports
The first international multi-sport event of winter sports was the Nordic
games held in Sweden, in 1901. Originally organized by General Viktor
Gustavo Balck, Nordic games were held again in 1903 and 1905, and then every
fourth year thereafter until 1926. Three years later, count Italian Eugenio
Brunetta d Usseaux proposed that the IOC phase one week with winter sports
as part of the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. Organizers oppose this
idea because they wanted to protect the integrity of the Nordic games, and
they were worried about the lack of winter sports facilities.
The first Olympics after the war, the games of 1920 in Antwerp, featured the
figure skating and ice hockey. At IOC Congress held the following year, it
was decided that the host nation of the 1924 summer Olympics, France, also
would host a separate "international winter sports week", under the
patronage of the IOC. Chamonix was chosen to host this "week" (actually 11
days) of events. The games proved to be a success, when more than 250
athletes from 16 Nations competed in 16 events. In 1925 THE IOC decided to
create a separate Olympic Winter Games and the games of 1924 in Chamonix
retroactively was designated as the first Winter Olympics.
The Winter Olympics are a winter multi-sport events held every four years,
from 1924. Consisting of winter sports, the games have included ski alpine,
cross-country skiing, skating, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping and
speed skating. Other events were added as the games have progressed, and
some of them, like luge, short track speed skating and freestyle skiing won
a permanent place on the Olympic program. Held in Chamonix, France, in 1924,
the first games of winter sports. Prior to this, the figure skating and ice
hockey had been Olympic events. The games were held every four years from
1924 until 1940, when they were interrupted by World War II. The summer and
winter games incorporated in 1948 and were held in the same year until 1992,
when the games were placed in separate four-year cycles. Winter Games have
changed significantly since its inception. The rise of television as a means
of global communication has enhanced the profile of the games.

Ski: the first evidence of skis is rock drawings 4500 for 5000 years in

army units were trained and competed in skis and skis were used by Scouts
Norwegian to spy on enemies. Norway was the site of the development of
modern skiing. Norwegian Sondre Norheim created the first skis inflexible
and links in the year 1850. With greater rigidity of connections, control
and maneuverability of skis increased by allowing users to turn, twist
Tester and navigate with ease. The development of modern skiing had very
little time.
